Another session to introduce youth to traditional Indigenous dances!
Special Guest Akina Ohlman joined us for a third time this season to lead sessions in both Fancy Shawl and Hoop Dance. In between, The Lyons Sisters did a full demonstration of Metis jigging to the “Orange Blossom Special”, then taught many new and excited students of all ages. We’d originally scheduled Jingle today, but Ayla Martin was unable to attend due to illness.
We loved sharing this knowledge and were gratified by the enthusiasm to learn. We captured live videos of these teachings which you can see on the Youth4Youth Canada Instagram.
A great time was had by all, and we hope you’ll join us for future events this year! For information on up and coming programs, or to register for advertised workshops, write to us at hello at y4y.ca
