We were thrilled to be invited back to Madahoki Summer Camp for another beadwork-inspired dot art workshop after our first session was such a success!

Our beadwork-inspired dot art workshops have been proving very popular this year! After working with staff at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and students at Broadview Public School, our third workshop took us to Madahoki Summer Camp, where we had the opportunity to try something a little different.

This year, we celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville, Ontario. It was wonderful to be invited back to share Indigenous culture with students, families, and visitors from across the community. The event offered opportunities to learn from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit presenters, showing students that Indigenous cultures are diverse, vibrant, and very much alive today.

We were honoured to return to the Oshawa & Durham Region Métis Council's 17th Annual Métis Heritage Celebration on June 20, 2026. The event brought together Métis families, community members, and visitors for a full day of culture, learning, music, food, and celebration at the Ajax Community Centre.

We recently had the opportunity to visit Broadview Public School to facilitate a beadwork-inspired dot art workshop with a group of enthusiastic Grade 4 students.

We recently delivered a Beadwork Inspired Dot Art Workshop to Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) employees at Mādahòkì Farm. It was a beautiful day of learning, creativity, and connection.

On June 21, the Bytown Museum in Ottawa became a vibrant hub of fun and learning as it hosted Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations, featuring Youth4Youth Canada’s Kisac program as special guests.

Taliah and Sarina Lyons were on hand to teach and perform Métis Jigging while Akina Ohlman did the same for Fancy Shawl dance. In total, Kisac program delivered four engaging performances, all drawing a packed audience eager to experience them.

Each year, these events serve as a vital platform for cultural education, allowing attendees to learn about the significance of Indigenous cultures, and the importance of their preservation.

We are grateful for Bytown's invitation to appear, and for the warm reception of the attendees.

The 2025 OCSB Indigenous Education Celebration was a night filled with laughter, connection, and cultural pride. Families, students, Elders, and educators came together in a joyful gathering that celebrated the strength and richness of Indigenous traditions.

We were honoured to present our Introduction to Dot Art workshop during the OCDSB’s PD Day on March 28, 2025, held at the Canada Science and Technology Museum. Participants arrived eager to explore dot art—an expressive style that uses small, colourful dots of paint to mimic beadwork and create detailed floral designs inspired by the prairie flowers of the Homeland.

The Girl Guides’ vision, "A better world, by girls," truly resonates with us.
