Sweet Treats and Community Connection at the NAC Summer Indigenous Market

We looked forward to taking part in the NAC Summer Indigenous Market this year. This opportunity allowed us to sell a variety of our homemade chocolates, fudge, brownies, bannock, jams, and prairie favourites.

Throughout the market, we enjoyed meeting visitors, sharing stories, and connecting with people across the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Events like these are about much more than fundraising. They create opportunities to celebrate Indigenous entrepreneurship, support local makers, and build relationships within the community.

Every purchase made at our table helps support Y4Y Canada's cultural programming for urban Indigenous youth. Funds raised through the market will help us continue offering workshops and activities that connect young people with Indigenous culture, traditions, arts, and with each other. From beading and dot art to cooking, dancing, and land-based learning, these programs help youth in our area strengthen cultural knowledge and their sense of belonging.

We are incredibly grateful to the organizers of the NAC Summer Indigenous Market for creating a welcoming space for Indigenous vendors and organizations. We are also thankful to everyone who stopped by our table, purchased a treat, shared words of encouragement, or took the time to learn more about our work.

Opportunities like this make a real difference for grassroots organizations like ours. Community support helps us continue providing meaningful cultural experiences for Indigenous youth in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, and we are honoured to be part of that work.

Kikīcinanāskomitināwāw to everyone who helped make the market a success. We look forward to participating in future markets so we can continue to invest in the next generation of Indigenous youth leaders.
