It was an honour to meet and share space with so many genuine women who attended the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) 50th Anniversary gala.

NWAC is a national Indigenous organization that started in 1974 as a grassroots organization to enhance, promote, and foster the social, economic, cultural, and political well-being of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people across Canada.

Over the last 50 years, NWAC has grown into a national Indigenous organization that delivers programs that respect the diverse and unique of Indigenous communities. Additionally, NWAC has assumed a local and international advocacy role for Indigenous rights in the areas of employment, labour and business, health, violence prevention and safety, justice and human rights, environment, early learning childcare, and international affairs.

This was our first chance to share our cultures there and we found ourselves performing for an inviting and supportive crowd. We left with full hearts.
